Rudel, the legendary Stuka pilot and unrepentant Nazi who flew the Ju-87G, claimed to have destroyed 519 Soviet tanks. But Rudel was also shot down or forced to land 32 times, which pointed to the
Now on to Star Wars: The Stuka Scream was the inspiration for the TIE fighters’ galactic screech. According to “The Sound of Star Wars,” sound designer Ben Burtt “chose the sound because he liked the fact that the Germans had used the sound entirely for intimidation, as he wanted the TIE fighters to do the same thing.”.
In WW2, the Stuka pilots often came very close to blacking out and many in fact did briefly. While Stuka was probably the best of all the dive bombers in the war, it undoubtedly placed the most amount of strain on both the plane and the pilot. And since the dive procedure was more or less automated, you can't exactly do a gentler dive. The Ju 87 Stuka siren meme sound belongs to the games. RK: That sound was specific to the Stuka dive bombers, which had sirens attached to the wheel struts. They were air driven sirens that had small propellers and when the planes dove (which they did almost vertically) the pilot released a brake on these devices and the propellers on the sirens would start to spin.
At the start of World War II, the Junkers 87-B dive bomber was the Nazi's first mass-produced fighter aircraft, already perfected in the Spanish Civil War and ready to take on the French, British, and later, the Red Army. Nicknamed the Stuka (from the German word for "dive bomber"), the Junkers 87-B would become the iconic Nazi warplane.
Based on historic events during the Battle of Stalingrad, this single player campaign puts you in the seat of the infamous German dive bomber - the Stuka. With sirens roaring take part in high altitude dive bombing missions and conduct close air support missions to assist ground forces along the front. Fly in formation as a wingman and eventually claim flight lead and take command of your own

Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) Since I love to prove people wrong. I can tell you that you can take off with 100% fuel + armor plates on sides, dive siren and 1800 KG bomb. And you don't even need a very long airfield for that, you can still use the gras before and behind the airfield if needed.

Does anybody know if the sirens mounted on the undercarriage of the Stuka were left on throughout all models and if so did the pilots bother to use them, particularly towards the end of the war. Had they lost their demoralizing effect by then? Also, would be interested too hear a ground test of the siren, i.e not in the usual power-dive scenario.
